Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy is a deeply relaxing, gentle treatment which involves a light touch to the body. After an initial consultation the Craniosacral therapist places their hands lightly on your body, using their hands to listen and connect, allowing your body to relax, unwind and release any held physical or emotional tensions.

 

Many people come for Craniosacral Therapy because they have acute physical problems like headaches, tinnitus, back problems, or for longstanding physical or emotional problems. Others come for ongoing support in their lives. Craniosacral therapy supports your body’s innate ability to balance, restore and heal itself, as well as helping to reduce stress and build your underlying energy.

Because it is so gentle and non-invasive Craniosacral Therapy is suitable for everyone, throughout all stages in life.

The first appointment usually takes about an hour, a case history will be taken, you will then lie fully clothed on a couch where the therapist will make a light contact with your body, this could be your head, sacrum, back, heart, shoulder, wherever is appropriate. This light touch encourages your body to relax and begin to make the changes it needs.

After a session there is occasionally a short period of adjustment as a part of the healing process, where you may become more aware of symptoms. Sometimes people report relief after only one or two sessions, for longer standing problems further sessions may be needed. Some people find they benefit from regular treatment over an extended period of time and say that, as well as noticing improvement in their physical or emotional symptoms, they feel more in touch with themselves, more balanced, less stressed and the quality of their lives has improved.
